Aidan: One Year to Eighteen Months

September 2002 to March 2003

Up to 16 months (1/24/03)

OK, so 15 months has come and gone and no update as promised. But things were very hectic at 15 months -- which fell on Christmas Eve. We were in Canada for Christmas, we had just finished a very busy season with our new business My Calendar Maker, and we were preparing for Dani's wedding. At 18 months, we'll include all the updated information from one year on -- you'll just have to wait until then (on pins and needles, I know)! But to provide a little bit of relief from all the suspense of what Aidan's been up to in the last few months, here are some pictures.

One Year Portraits

At Aidan's one year checkup, he weighed 23 lbs., 3 oz. and was 30 1/4 inches long. His weight has stayed in the same percentile since his last checkup, but his height shot up from 25th precentile to 60th. So much has happened since Aidan's nine month update -- this may be our longest update so far! Here goes:

At the end of June, just after turning 9 months old, Aidan got his fifth tooth. His Sabba (Galit's Dad) came to visit over the July 4th weekend and helped us build the pool you see in the pictures below. We flew to Florida for Galit's uncle Mike's wedding and got to see many family members from Israel, including Galit's Grandmother. In Florida, Aidan went to a zoo for the first time and we started a tradition of collecting monkeys for our "Monkey" whenever we travel. When we returned from Florida, Mac's Aunt Robin & Uncle Don came to visit with Nikki and Dalton and we had a great time showing them around. Aidan stood alone for the first time and started clapping while they were visiting. In the middle of July, Aidan started playing peek-a-boo by hiding his face behind a book or a curtain. He had his second haircut in July and started climbing up onto furniture. Right at 10 months, Aidan said his first word -- "cat." (He now says cat, dog, sit, stuck, fish, says "pss.." to call the cats, and "zat?" for "what's that?"). Aidan helped us out at our yard sale with Donna, Keith, and Courtney and that same weekend in August had a great (but too short) visit with Galit's friend Sharyn. Aidan started turning pages while being read to in early August. On our flight to California (just Mommy and Aidan this time) to visit Galit's parents, Aidan threw kisses to the pretty ladies behind us, but we can't get him to throw any our way! We had a great time in California visiting Savta's work and going to the farmer's market and duck pond and meeting lots of Savta and Sabba's friends. When we got back to Virginia, Aidan started drinking whole milk which he loves. We also went to the Children's Museum for the first time and that was such a hit we are now members and go almost every week. When Aidan turned 11 months old Natasha and Stacey came to visit and took us to King's Dominion (a theme park nearby) (Thanks, Naji Christmas!). At the end of August, we watched Penn State beat Central Florida (and then Nebraska and Lousiana Tech in September) and later that night played with Jack while Mommy and Daddy went to a movie. In September Aidan got his 8th tooth. He learned how to climb down steps and climb off furniture. He started a music class that he loved. Uncle Mason came to visit for a few days and Aidan had a good time showing Mason his favorite parks. Aidan took his first steps on Sept. 11 at music class, but hasn't done much more than just a few steps here and there. We added brushing Aidan's teeth to our nighttime routine and Aidan loves it. In the middle of September, Aidan started dancing to music and sometimes it even sounds like he's singing along (takes after Mom maybe?). And of course there was Aidan's big birthday bash. Gramma, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa Fraser, Aunt Meytal, and Aunt Dani all made it here for the party and we had a huge turnout with all of Aidan's playgroup friends.

Aidan is doing great, as you can tell. He is so funny to watch and play with now. Whenever Aidan sees a dog, any dog, he says, "dog" but as soon as he sees Maggie (our dog), he says "sit!". We're pretty sure he thinks that this is her name (and we're equally as sure that she may think so too!). He has playgroup every week, sometimes twice a week, gets together with Jack and Courtney and other playgroup buddies whenever possible, eats pretty much everything we eat now (except meat -- he rarely will eat any meat) and has even started using a spoon. Of course, this makes much more of a mess, but he enjoys it! Aidan also had his first real illnesses these last three months -- viruses, ear infections, eye infections...But we can't complain since it's the first time he's really been sick. In October, Aidan's got lots of birthday parties, Halloweeen parties, and more playgroups and activities with the MOMS Club. In November, Aidan's Sabba and Savta come to visit for Thanksgiving. And in December, we will make the trip up to Canada to visit with Daddy's side of the family.

As for Aidan's parents, we're doing great, too. Mac's job is going extremely well. He loves it there and they love him. Galit had her 26th birthday in August (unfortunately, Aidan was very sick that day!) and is keeping busy with the MOMS Club which as now started back up again after a summer break. Our new business, My Calendar Maker -- www.mycalendarmaker.com is doing far better than we ever expected and it keeps us very busy. We have already made many system and software upgrades to account for our growing business.

Expect another update at 15 months.
